Chrome 71: Google Plans To Warn Users About Shady Subscription Pages

Google announced on Thursday that it is planning to release Chrome 71 in December, which will operate to warn users before displaying subscription pages that do not make it apparent if they will bill the user on sharing personal information.

The warning displayed will read, “The page ahead may try to charge you money” and “These charges could be one- time or recurring and may not be obvious.” Even if the fee structure is complicated for users to comprehend, Chrome will display the warning, or if the billing information is in gray colored text or background.

The initiative by Google is pertaining to millions of users encountering such shady pages each month. Google says that Chrome mobile, Chrome desktop and Android’s WebView will display these warnings.

In order to avoid having their sites flagged by Google, the webmasters need to adhere to Google’s new mobile billing charges.
